Install¶
QuadGuide needs Blender 4.2 or later on Windows, macOS (Apple silicon) or Linux. The remeshing engine is a separate program inside the download; the add-on runs it in the background, so Blender stays responsive while it works.
From the download¶
- Download
quadguide-<version>.zip. Do not unzip it. - In Blender: Edit > Preferences > Add-ons, the drop-down at the top right, Install from Disk..., and pick the zip.
- Tick QuadGuide in the list if it is not ticked already.
Nothing else to install: the add-on finds the engine for your system inside the zip.
macOS
The first time, macOS may say the engine "cannot be opened". Open System Settings > Privacy & Security and press Open Anyway next to the message, then Remesh again.
Find the panel¶
In the 3D viewport press N to open the sidebar and pick the QuadGuide tab.
Preferences¶
Expand QuadGuide's entry in Edit > Preferences > Add-ons:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Expert Settings | Shows the Expert section in the panel: the sliders behind the styles. |
| Developer Tools | Shows the Developer section: tools still in testing and debugging views. |
| Engine | The path to the engine program. Leave it empty to use the one in the download. |
Updating¶
Install the new zip the same way; Blender replaces the old version. Your scenes keep their settings and guides.
